- Training based on Bachelor's degree: continuing education program for helping professions like psychologists, social workers, educators. Recognized by the Ministry of Education since 2005 in Kyiv, several compatible programs in the regions; 360 hours, includes core 144 hours/96 concentration (family, social, school; body, trauma, dance-movement; fairytale therapy concentrations), includes requirements for personal therapy and supervision; does not include psychopathology.
Prerequisites: complete or ongoing bachelor’s in psychology; a continuing education training program in another psychotherapy approach, 300 hours; 300 hours psychodynamic art psychotherapy, 250 hours personal experience in art groups, 700 hours practicum with supervision, 150 hours supervision, 150 hours psychopathology. - Ternopil National Pedagogical University, Applied Psychology Department. Training: private education program done by the NGO Ukrainian Psychotherapy Association itself; primarily with invited international instructors. Academic courses in arts therapy, samples: Introduction into arts therapy theory and practice, developed in 2008.
- Ukrainian Catholic University, Lviv, Mental Health Department. Art therapy course developed to be taught in the fall 2018.
- Vinnytsya State Pedagogical University. Introduction into arts therapy course, developed and taught since 2004, then changed into art pedagogy until 2018.

Visual art therapy is conducted in a variety of settings and age groups:
• individual, family, group
• psychological first aid, trauma-focused therapy and support for abuse survivors, military, veterans, IDPs and anyone affected by trauma in-person/via media, including war trauma, or traumatic loss,
• prenatal/postnatal, with children, teens, adults,
• education setting with students and educator burnout prevention,
• medical hospital, clinic and palliative care setting,
• psychiatric and addiction treatment hospital setting,
• supports and social services for homeless, orphaned children and youth, vulnerable families,
• special needs and developmental disorders.

Textbooks and journals are published. Ukrainian Arts Therapy Association published nearly 40 titles in arts therapy.
