Training to become a qualified art therapist is unavailable in Malta. Art Therapists who practice in Malta have a Master’s Degree from UK.
Art Psychotherapy is recognized as a form of Psychotherapy and regulated by the Psychotherapy Profession Board c/o Ministry for the Family, Children’s Rights and Social Solidarity.
There are currently 3 Art Therapists practicing in Malta who work within different settings namely education, in a psychiatric setting and within primary health care. Art Therapists also work in private practice and freelance within organisations with different client groups.
