ART THERAPY ON THE MAP

THE STATE OF ART THERAPY IN LUXEMBOURG

National Association(s)

Association of Qualified Arts Therapists in Luxembourg/
Association Luxembourgeoise des Art-thérapeutes Diplômés ALAtD
Founded in 2008.  www.alatd.lu
The state of Art Therapy in Iceland

Education

From 1999 four 3-year cycles of training in arts therapies originally for teachers as part of a continuing education offer; after the creation of the University of Luxembourg in 2003 it was decided not to integrate the course into the regular course offer, but to confer a “DESS- Diplômes d’Études Supérieures Spécialisées” (Diploma of Higher Specialized Studies) during a transitional phase. According to the University and the Ministry of Culture and Higher Education the DESS does not correspond to a Master’s degree.
Most Luxembourgers, however, study in the neighboring countries: Germany, Belgium, France, Netherlands, UK and come back with private certificates, university diplomas, Bachelor and Master degrees, and therefore have very heterogeneous training backgrounds.
